The following are locations that I have used and am familiar with for photo shots. These locations are by no means the only options. I am open to any and all locations including local parks, beaches (wind permitting) and of course, "home sweet home!"
Marin County Location Ideas
Stolte Grove, Mill Valley
This location works for both morning and afternoon shoots. It's a redwood grove nestled in homestead valley with lots of opportunity for beautiful backdrops of light filtering through trees and and old wooden bridge.
Fort Baker, Sausalito
Next to Cavallo Point, Fort Baker is best in the afternoon especially if it's the "bridge shot" you're looking for. This location also offers some cool industrial backdrops as well as grassy and woodsy sceneries. There are endless opportunities for taking photos here!
Camino Alto Fire Road
This location requires a short hike uphill to gorgeous open space with views of the bay. There is also a hiking trail just off the road that offers a more "woodsy" look. The best light for this location is in the morning.
Hippie Tree, Tiburon
This location requires a very short hike uphill. Once on the top of the hill there is a large graffiti painted rock and a tree swing that kids love! There are views of grassy hills and the bay with very little shade. This location is best on overcast days.
Muir Beach, Mill Valley
Muir Beach is always a "favorite" for afternoon shoots. This location offers beautiful light with a gorgeous backdrop and is always fun for kids. Please keep in mind though...beaches only work when winds are calm. Only book this location if you have a flexible schedule or are willing to switch locations last minute due to high winds.
China Camp, San Rafael (weekdays only)
This is old fishing village has some rustic weathered buildings, a small beach area and a dock that all make for great backdrops.
Robson Park, San Anselmo
